Jewell Marie Kirby was born in Collinsville, Oklahoma on February 15, 1923. She left this World to pass through Heavens’ Pearly Gates on October 30, 2019. Welcoming her with open arms were her husband, Bill; son, Dale; and granddaughter, Stacy.
Jewell established her career at the Department of Human Services until retiring in 1986. Unfulfilled with retirement and due to Jewell’s need to help others, she returned to the workforce until retiring again in her mid-70’s.
She married George Lewis (Bill) Kirby on November 15, 1952. They were married until his death in 1988. They had five children: Judy, Bobby, Linda, Carla, and Dale, who passed away in 1998. Those five children provided Jewell with 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Although short in stature, she was blessed with a huge heart, and a stubborn streak to match. She was a kind woman who was selfless to a fault. Preparing meals for those she loved and all that wanted to gather at her table, she made sure everyone ate first while it was hot. Mere words cannot convey what Jewell meant to those that loved her.
Jewell’s legacy will continue to live on in all those that knew her. May the love she showed to us bring us peace and greater love.
Isaiah 40:31 – But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
