Janet Ayers, 72, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 3, 2023. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Robert and Jean (Hines) Marrs. She graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1969. She married Jimmy Ayers, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 12, 1970.
Janet always wanted to be a mother and she devoted her life to being one of the best. When her girls were younger, she was an active helper in school and extracurricular activities. She was a frequent homeroom mom, church camp cook and counselor, and coordinator for fundraising for the Sapulpa cross country and track teams. She taught 1st grade Sunday school for many years at the First Baptist Church of Sapulpa. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jean Marrs. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jimmy Ayers, of Sapulpa, OK, her daughter, Stephanie Goolsby (husband – Charley, daughters – Riley Barr and Asia, and sons – Roman and Brock), of Sapulpa, OK, her daughter, Stacie Smith (husband – Jeff, and sons – Gavin and Garrett), of Allen, TX, her stepdaughter, Julie Bower (husband – Robert, daughter – Anne Marie, and son – Christopher), of New Bern, NC, her brother, David Marrs, of Mannford, OK, her sister, Lisa Martin, of Sapulpa, OK, brother and sister-in-law, Ken & Sue Ayers, of Sapulpa, OK, close friends David & Donna Hendricks and family, of Georgia, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Janet’s Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 8th, at Green Hill Funeral Home in Sapulpa, OK with Page Cole officiating.
