Ida Debra (Knight) Smith, known as Debbie or Debs to family and friends, passed away at age 67. For most of her life she was a resident of Sapulpa, OK. She went to be with the Lord on Monday July 27, 2020, passing at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was born on January 15, 1953 in Sapulpa, OK in a doctor’s office within the Berryhill Building downtown. Her maternal grandmother was there and helped deliver her. Debbie’s parents were O.B. Knight and Dorothea (Thorpe) Knight and siblings were Michael Knight, Benita (Knight) Little, and Kelly Knight, all of whom have preceded her in death. She attended Sapulpa High School and graduated in 1971 and would later marry fellow classmate Raymond Thomas in 1973. On July 8, 1980 her only child, Benjamin James Thomas, was born. In 1998 she divorced and after years as a stay at home wife and mother went back to school to eventually become an LPN, licensed practical nurse, who’s greatest joy was taking care of children. During the course of this life change she met Martin Smith to whom she was fiercely devoted and loved for 20 years (nearly 10 married). She was a woman who loved her family more than anything. She sacrificed with little complaint and always put the needs of others ahead of her. Her love, humor, and smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to help with the cost of services. Donations can be made by phone to Green Hill Funeral Home (918) 224-2312, below on the website or in person at the funeral home. Memorial Services are scheduled at 1 pm on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Green Hill Funeral Home.
