Helen Louise Keigley

Helen Louise Keigley was born August 24, 1935, in Onapa, Oklahoma to the late Clifford T. and Latain E. Wells. She passed from this life on April 29, 2023 at the age of 87. She was proceeded in death by her husband Jim Keigley, her brothers Charlie Wells and William Wells, her son Gilbert Mallonee, and a great-grandson Trever Hurst.

Helen was the second of four siblings. She’s survived by one sibling Shirley Harris of Okmulgee, three daughters, Shirley Hurst and Husband Kenny Hurst of Okmulgee, Tommie Hemphill of Okmulgee, Carol Makinson and husband Wayne Makinson of Okmulgee, and one son Randy Mallonee and wife Tonyia Mallonee of Beggs. Helen has ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great, great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Keigley was a long-time resident of Sapulpa, prior she lived in Beggs for ten plus years, then Bristow for many years, where she achieved one of her lifelong dreams; owning a restaurant. She opened her own business in Bristow called the Longhorn Café #1. Mrs. Keigley was famous for her homemade biscuits and gravy, daily specials and of course, her pies and other desserts. She later opened a second restaurant in Beggs calling it the Longhorn #2.

Helen had another popular talent, “sewing”. She even had a sewing business while she lived in Sapulpa called “Helen’s sew-n-sew”. Her sewing skills were outstanding; she sewed and made alterations for the Sapulpa Police Department for many years. Mrs. Keigley enjoyed her church family, and other social events. Helen never met a stranger; she had many friends and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her, whether it be for sewing or anyone in need of a listening ear. Helen was a true friend. Helen was obsessed with having a beautiful yard and a tidy house. Of course, she played on her tablet which kept her company, along with her little dog named Sammie. There wasn’t anything that she couldn’t do. She remodeled her own home in 2000. She was a jack of all trades. She was taken away from us way too soon. Rest high on the mountain.

Helen Keigley’s viewing is scheduled for Sunday, May 7th from 1-5 for family and friends at Greenhill Funeral Home in Sapulpa. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Landmark Tabernacle Church, located at 4700 S. Hwy 97, Sand Springs Ok 74063.
