Harold Hurst

Harold Eugene Hurst was born on March 25, 1940 to Harvey and Sylvia (Mayberry) Hurst in Kellyville, Oklahoma on the Hurst Farm on Slick Rd.   He went home to be with his Lord (and his beloved wife, Verda) on Thursday Aug 6, 2020 (at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 12 days.)

Harold went to school in Oktaha, Oklahoma and met his first wife Verda Sisco Hurst in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Together, they raised their seven children in a number of places before making their home in Kellyville.  For the children, he was your worst critic and your biggest fan. Always making a way to provide anything you needed to make you a success in your endeavors.

Harold worked many jobs while he was raising his family.  The most prominent, being a class A welder for years and then an inspector for Oklahoma Natural Gas, now ONEOK from where he retired and raised cattle.   He played catcher in baseball and while at ONG, Harold played catcher on a Slow Pitch Softball team.  He was fast and tough and taught his children and grandchildren to be the same.

Later in life, after the death of his first wife, Harold married Lorie Duren

Hurst.  Together they raised four children.  Harold was a hard-headed man and sometimes misunderstood and hard to deal with but always did what it took to get a job done, no matter how hard or how long it took.  There’s not enough time or words to describe everything he was to everyone he knew and loved.

Harold is survived by his wife, Lorie of the home; 6 children from his first marriage, Mike Hurst and wife Connie of South Carolina, Charlie Hurst and wife Teresa of Slick, Art Hammons of Sapulpa, Greg Hurst and wife Kimberly of Sapulpa, David Hurst and wife Yvonne of Joplin, Missouri, Terri Brinkley and husband Jeff of Sapulpa, daughter-in-law, Charlene Hurst of Kellyville.  4 children from his second marriage.  24 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Verda and one son Jeff Hurst.
