Glenn Pendergrass

Glenn Douglas Pendergrass was born June 5, 1936 to George Frank and Garnet Katie (Stach) Pendergrass in Beggs, Oklahoma. Glenn passed away peacefully January 14, 2019 with his family by his side. Glenn was the youngest of 6 children and was raised with little wealth but, more love than most can imagine.
He was raised from a baby on the Thompson Ranch in Beggs and attended a small country school called Oak Grove through the 8th grade. He finished the 12th grade in Beggs. His dad had a good work ethic that he passed on to all of his children and his love of caring for animals, farm and ranch work to Glenn. A trait that Glenn passed to his oldest son.
Glenn married the love of his life Christine Perkins in 1956. He loved and cherished her until her passing in November 2017. Together they had 2 sons. Glenn was a true cowboy and made a living for his family riding a horse or tractor for the majority of his working years. At one time as a very young man he was in charge of overseeing the management of seven ranches in the Muskogee area.
Around 1964 Glenn moved his young family back to Mounds area to manage the (then) Parker Ranch. Years later the ranch became the well-known Roy Clark Ranch. When the Roy Clark Ranch sold to developers Glenn had other various jobs that just never suited him quite the way cowboy work did. But he worked until his health prevented it. Glenn and Christine had a small acreage near Mounds that they tended with heart, soul and tired backs until it was park like. After Glenn’s blindness and poor health forced him to leave his home he moved to Arbor Village in Sapulpa where he was tended to with love and kindness by some of the sweetest earth angels that there ever was.
Glenn is survived by sons Wayne (Retha) of Kellyville and Rodney of Tulsa. Numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he was very proud of and loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Katie and wife Christine. Also, brothers Charles and Willburn, sisters Josie, Jewel and Alice. Very special sister-in-law Macel, who he thought his brother Wilburn brought home for him to have another sister. Since Wilburn and Macel married on Glenn’s 7th birthday.
Memorial Service is scheduled 2:00pm Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel Sapulpa.
