Gilbert Miller

GILBERT EUGENE ‘GIB’ MILLER died 11 October 2019, in Deland, Florida.

Born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Jess Guy and Lillian (Lynch) Miller on 19 May 1928, Gib was a U.S. Army Korean War-era veteran, proudly serving from 1951-1953. He completed Officer’s Training School at Ft. Knox, Kentucky in 1951. Gib was a graduate of Sapulpa High School, and a graduate of The University of Tulsa with a degree in Engineering. He retired from Hess Oil Company, starting with that company in 1972.

Gib and Carolyn Whiteside were married 2 September 1950, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and had three children who survive him: Kay Elizabeth Miller and husband Steve Wiley; Gregg Eugene Miller and Gary Michael Miller and wife, Gladys Pena.

Those who preceded Gib in death include his parents and wife, Carolyn, his siblings, Jesse Gerald Miller and Grace Edith Miller, and second wife, Armilda Avra of Sapulpa.

Gib married Mary Saylor McDowell on 19 May 2011, in Sapulpa. She survives him, along with his children mentioned, plus grandchildren Reagan, Brian, Keli, Alexa, Tim, and Kristin and many beautiful great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service for Gib will be held Saturday, Oct. 19th at 1:00 PM at The Sanctuary of Deland with professional services from Compassionate Cremation in Winter Springs, Florida.

Burial will be at Green Hills Mausoleum, Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
