Elmer Dean Coursey of Kellyville, Oklahoma was born on November 11th, 1940 to his parents, Henry and Sylvia May (Enlow) Coursey. Elmer went to be with the Lord on September 21st, 2020 with his family by his side. Elmer grew up with three brothers in Tahlequah, OK. He was proceeded in death by his brothers Dewey and Leroy. Wilbur, his last living brother resides in Tahlequah, OK. At the age of 17, Elmer joined the Army. After basic training he was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. This is where he met the first love of his life, Maria. It was love at first site. After their marriage they were eventually blessed with two children, Robert and Sandra. Both survive him today. The family moved a few times in their lives but settled in Sapulpa, OK. Elmer’s career of nearly 40 years was as an Auto Service Manager. His hobby was his second love…horses. He owned and ran Quarter horses mainly. He also started Sandra in barrel racing and other rodeo activities. Elmer’s first love, Maria, passed in 2002. After some time passed, he met his next love, Annie. They did not have a long marriage because cancer took her from him as well. When Elmer was in his fifties, he began losing his sight to Macular Degeneration. This gradually took away his vision over the next several years. He found out this summer that he had cancer and it took him as well on Monday, September 21, 2020. Elmer is survived by his brother Wilbur Coursey and his family; his son Robert Coursey and daughter Sandra Pinkley. Elmer has two granddaughters, Erika Long and Ashley Sturgeon. He also has one great-grandson, Ace Long. Elmer had a saying, “I won’t go to town without my boots on.” He will be greatly missed.
