Edwin Dale

Edwin Eugene Dale 92, stepped into Heaven on January 26, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Eugene was born January 15, 1928 to Edwin Frank & Pearl Leota Dale

Eugene met & married the Love of his life, Ethel Faye Dale on December 22, 1950 & just had celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. He was a member of First Christian Church in Sapulpa & they loved attending the Builders Class together. Eugene’s family rejoiced in August of 1989 when he accepted Christ as his Savior & watched his baptism.

Eugene graduated from Glenpool High School in 1946 where he was a basketball favorite. He was employed by Oklahoma Gas and Electric working in the Storeroom for 32 years retiring in 1987 at the age of 59 years old. He then went to be a Door Greeter at Wal-Mart for 18 years where he loved meeting & talking to all ages.

Eugene faithfully served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 45th Division of Oklahoma as a Sergeant in the Korean Conflict earning the Army Occupation Medal in Japan, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge.
Later in life he was a member of the Oklahoma Honor Guard, VFW, American Legion. He was involved in Jaycees, Sertoma and a member of the Elks Lodge.

Eugene upon his retirement from OG&E took up a hobby of golfing which he loved playing with many friends & especially his Grandson Billy because he could always count on a Pepsi & hamburger afterwards. Eugene also accomplished a Hole in One the first year of playing golf. Any sport came easy for him. He enjoyed league bowling for years & with his girls & the many games of 200 plus he would roll consistently.

He always enjoyed attending his Grandchildren’s activities be it Band Concerts, football games, Soccer games, & loved watching his Granddaughter, LeaAnn play his love of sports basketball, dance recitals & competitions. He was so very proud attending both their High School & College Graduations. Then to be able to see them both marry & the Best of all making him a GREAT GRANDPA 7 times, which brought a Huge smile to his face each time.

He always enjoyed helping others & loved to visit with everyone he came in contact with to make them laugh & smile. He was truly loved by all & will be greatly missed by family & friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Jean Welch & her spouse Forrest Welch, Darla Ann Young & her spouse Dennis Young. Grandchildren Billy Eugene Young & his spouse Sandi Young, Stefanie LeaAnn Smith & her spouse Chris Smith. Great Grandchildren Jayce, Deacon Eugene, Tate & Coen Young, Abigail, Jacob, & Hogan Smith & a host of other family & friends.

Services will be Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2pm at First Christian Church in Sapulpa under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
