Earl Ray Keylon, known by family and friends as Bub, was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma on December 23, 1961 to parents Gordon and Betty (Slape) Keylon. Earl passed away October 9, 2023 at the age of 61,
Earl was one of 3 children born to Gordon and Betty. He had 2 sisters, Marsha “Earlene” and Vickie Lynne. He attended and graduated from Kiefer Schools in 1980. He played baseball and trained as a machinist at the Vo-Tech in Drumright during his time in school. Earl also played on the first T-Ball team in the area and was coached by his dad.
Earl worked for 18 years at Nelson Electric, worked in the oil field, and then for 14 years at Advance Directive Devices. He grew up in Kiefer and moved to Tulsa, where he lived for 13 years, before returning to live in his hometown of Kiefer. He loved watching football, especially the OU Sooners. He took his nephews to a few professional football games as well. He coached his sister Vickie’s softball team for 5 years. He enjoyed watching sports on TV at sports bars and shooting pool as well. His co-workers called Earl a “gentle giant.”
Earl was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Betty Keylon, sister Vickie, and nephew Nathan. He is survived by sister Earlene Keylon of Kiefer; nephew Michael Jack of Tulsa; several great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, extended family and friends.
Funeral Services are on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 10 am in the Green Hill Funeral Home Chapel, with Tom Dugan officiating. Interment will be in South Heights Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Green Hill Funeral Home.
