Duane was proud of his Kiowa/Cherokee heritage.Duane is active in the Air Force National Guard as a Technical Sergeant with the 138th Fighter Wing. His specialty was Avionic Systems Technology and worked on F-16s. He served 16 years and has had two tours in Iraqi and one in Afghanistan: Operation Iraqi Freedom Campaign, New Dawn Campaign, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Duane earned several medals and was very proud to serve his country. His life was all military and he valued the comrade of his military servicemen. His door was always open to them and he had many friends. He was born in Lawton, lived in OKC, graduated high school in Sapulpa, attended NSU, and resided in Owasso.
After 911 he decided to join the Air Force. He, at that time, said he was destined to be a soldier and felt that was his calling from God. He was a Christian and spoke of his faith. Although his father’s family were Marines, he pursued the Air Force. He experienced many opportunities from traveling all over the world, training airmen in aircraft mechanics and meeting all military personnel.
He had a passion of cooking. He always had BBQ’s at his home inviting servicemen. He tried creating new recipes and watched cooking shows, and was a lot better cook than his mom.
His earlier days, he played sports, indoor and outdoor soccer and played with the Air National Guard co-ed soccer team, was a linebacker in HS football, wrestled, and was a devoted OU fan. He second team was the Arizona Cardinals. Other passions were cars, music and just hanging out. Duane was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness”.
