Dorothy was born in Durant, Oklahoma to William and Rosalie Selby on June 20, 1939 and was the youngest of four children. She attended Sapulpa High School and married her high school sweetheart, Hubert Brooks. Dorothy and Hubert had one daughter, Carol Anne Brooks Kepler who was the joy of their hearts. While in Sapulpa, Dorothy attended Lee and Walnut Church of Christ. Dorothy loved to entertain, loved Christmas, loved her flowers, loved shopping and loved square dancing; but most of all she loved her grands. Dorothy was loved by everyone, including her lifelong friends, Tandy and Wanda Haley and Bob and Ramona Hurt. Dorothy went by several different names-Dorothy-Dotty, Mom, and the one she loved the most, MawMaw! Dorothy’s heart was broken when the love of her life, Hubert passed away in September 1997. It was because of this heartache she moved to Kentucky. She later met and married Harold Gilbert in 1999 and remained in Louisville, Kentucky until she was welcomed into Heaven on January 17, 2021. Dorothy worked for her brother, Kenneth Selby with Mazzio’s Corporation as a designer as well as executive director of his home and corporate caterings. She also helped with making sure his children were well taken care of and protected. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harold; daughter, Carol Kepler and husband John, grandkids Willie Balthis and his, son Rylan; Debbie Pigg, husband Robbie her daughters Erica and Autumn; David Balthis, wife Jamie and their children Jadyn, Conner, Ellie and Easton, grandsons Waylon Kepler and Frankie Jones, great grandson Kaidon, and her sister-in-law, Debbie Selby. She is also survived by her nieces Julie Selby, Lori Selby, Susan Aldrich and her husband Zah, nephew Eric Selby wife Andrea, children Ellie and Henry, nephew Beau Selby and wife Kacy, niece Davian Bretz, nephew Scott Champlain, wife Connie and their children Amanda and Gracie, niece Shelley Phillips, her children Heather, Grant and Christian, David Davis, wife Susie, as well as many other great nieces, nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. There were many she considered family and treated as such, including Tammy Angel, her husband Curt, Tandra McClellan her husband Brian and their children Hunter Hoggatt, Taylor and Briley. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosalie Selby, her husband Hubert, her brother Kenneth Selby, her sisters Sue Davis and Eloise Champlain, brother-in-law, Tommy Champlain, nephew Michael Champlain, friends Tandy Haley, Bob Hurt and Ramona Hurt, as well as her not by blood grandsons Ryan Roberts and Jeremy Roberts. Services for Dorothy will be Sunday, January 31st at 2:00 pm at Greenhill Funeral Home 400 E Teel Rd, Sapulpa, Ok. Aubrey Roberts will be officiating.
