David “Sonny” Joe Hughes, resident of Sapulpa, OK, passed away Monday, June 4th, 2018 at Grace Living Center in Jenks.
Sonny was a 1961 graduate of Sapulpa High School. He grew up in a mechanic’s household and had an honest love for all things auto. There are many colorful stories of Sonny in his younger years regarding his “trading” vehicles, hot rodding and building cars, along with having to “fix a few” after he had his hands on them. Sonny spent most of his adult life living and working in various area of Texas but later returned to Sapulpa to live out his remaining years.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Watts and Dixie Hughes, and his sister, Donna Lavon McIntosh. He is survived by a beautiful daughter, Sonni Jo Washington of Louisiana, two sisters, Dixie Doshier of Bixby, Mary Herman of San Antonio, TX (with husband Chuck), and brother in law, Ron McIntosh of Wagoner, along with several nieces and a nephew and their families . There is no planned service.
