Corey Wade Giffin, age 43, of Kiefer, Oklahoma passed peacefully on April 24, 2022.
Corey was born on May 26, 1978 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to 1st Lt. George and Brenda Giffin.
He lived in many places growing up as the child of an Army Officer, graduating from Sapulpa
high school in 1996. Following in a family tradition of military and public service spanning well
over 100 years, Corey proceeded on to Tulsa Community College to receive an associates degree
in respiratory therapy. He completed the registration exam and practiced as a Registered
Respiratory Therapist for 20 years at St John Hospital in Sapulpa. Corey enjoyed serving patients
and made an enormous impact on those that he treated. Many patients would return to the
hospital and thank him for his kindness, compassion and direction of their medical care. Corey
received the Leader of the Year award in 2014 and 2017 in recognition of his dedication,
commitment and contribution to the hospital. Corey was loved by his patients and colleagues
who could always rely on his witty personality to make their day brighter.
Corey loved all that was outdoors; hunting, fishing, shooting and the lake. He was “Mr Bass
Pro” and could always be seen wearing some form of “camo” gear. Corey was an accomplished
hunter, having registered 2 deer in the Oklahoma Cy Curtis Record book. He spent many deer
and turkey seasons in Arnett, Oklahoma on the U7 Ranch where he was happiest.
Corey was a friend to many and a dedicated son but above all he was a truly incredible father.
Attending lacrosse games and gymnastics meets and shuttling to practices, Corey loved cheering
on his kids. He always made sure they attended the latest marvel movie on opening night. He
taught them to take a chance, believe in yourself and ignore the naysayers. He was the king of
the playground in their eyes and he adored them.
Corey is preceded in death by his loving mother, Brenda Kay Giffin of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. He
is survived by his two children Ashlyn and Hayden Giffin of Bixby, Oklahoma; his father,
Lieutenant Colonel George Edward Giffin III of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and his sister, Tina and Ron
Wiscombe and children Elora, Brendan and Edith, of Perkins, Oklahoma. As well as many
Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Please remember Corey by his million dollar smile, his contagious laugh, his stellar jokester
skills and his loving spirit for this is how he will always remain in our hearts.
