Constance “Connie” Joy (Patterson) Stewart was born on June 1, 1932 in Slidell, Louisiana to parents Luther Edgar and Minnie Mae Patterson. She passed away December 16, 2018 after suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease for several years.
Connie was the youngest of 12 children (brothers; Fred, Jack, Ed, Bo and sisters; Inez, Monette, Billie, Bobbie, Mack and Wanda) and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1950. Jack and Bo were her protectors, but also her tormentors but she adored them both. Connie married Richard Stewart on November 12, 1960 at Sunset Wedding Chapel in Reno, Nevada. Their wedding day held unexpected surprises. They encountered a blizzard, had a car wreck and made a trip to the ER for stiches but the couple was married in spite of circumstances and remained married for 58 years. Their union was blessed with 4 children; Vicki, Lisa, Kevin and Candy.
Connie moved with her husband Richard to Sapulpa, in the Pickett Prairie Community in 1970 and that became their permanent home. They raised their children here and the house was always full of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and friends. Connie was always available to take her kids and their friends and later grandkids wherever they needed to go. For many years she was a member of the Rebekah’s Lodge along with her daughter Candy, who was a Theta Rho, where she served as President for many years. For most of her life her focus revolved around family…both Patterson and Stewart. She loved having them for their annual 4th of July celebrations and Thanksgiving holidays. Connie’s kindness and welcoming ways have been remarked upon by family members. She had a way of making people feel special.
After all her children and grandchildren were grown, friends became a big part her life. She and her husband began traveling. They loved Alaskan cruises, dinners, shopping with friends and gambling. She was very lucky. She would go with her husband, leave him behind and begin winning. She always knew when her husband was close by because she would stop winning.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard Stewart; and all 11 siblings. Connie is survived by children Vicki Lansford and husband Doug of TX; Lisa Rogers of Tulsa, Kevin Stewart and Candy Todd-Kendall of Tulsa; grandchildren Duston Todd, Misty Murray, Kelsey Stewart, Sarah McMindes, Scott Lansford, Reid Lansford and Carlee Roberts; great-grandchildren Conner Wood, Presley Wood, Mason Wells and Sawyer Lansford.
Connie spent her days taking care of those she cherished the most…her family! She will be forever loved and greatly missed.
