Charles Watashe

Charles Edward Watashe went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the age of 71. He was with family at his sister’s home. He was born December 25, 1950, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Jesse and Annie (Barnett) Watashe.

He was retired from the City of Tulsa water department as the chief auto mechanic where he served for 20 years. Charles graduated from Kellyville High School in 1971. He was a letterman in baseball. Charles loved golf, fishing, classic cars, playing dominos and spades with family, also James Brown dancing and music. He was a member of the Polecat Ceremonial Grounds and Sapulpa Indian Community Center.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Watashe and Annie Helen Barnett Watashe; brother Joe Wesley Watashe; sisters Beverly Ann Watashe, Rita Darlene Watashe; daughter Tara Haikey Hill, great-niece Jona Hogue Rosson; sister-in-law Janice McNatt Watashe; nephew Bryan Allen Watashe and brother-in-law Charles Dunn.

He is survived by one brother Allen Ray Watashe of Sapulpa; six sisters Patricia Watashe Dunn of Mannford, Sharon Watashe Lee, Jesse Watashe, Cynthia Janie Fox Watashe, Deborah Watashe, and Brenda Joyce Mills of Okmulgee; son Kevin Haikey, and daughter Cheryl McLain; granddaughter Miranda and Ashley Dawn and great-granddaughter Credence and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Adam Thomas, Tony Torres, Micah Roger Fox, River Northcutt, Michael Leffler, Gregory Leffler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Bevenue, Jerry Wilson, Johnny Warrior, Rocky Hickman, Manuel Warrior, Micah Fox, Kenney Moss and Richard Lee.

Wake services will be from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville.  Services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, also at Traditions Funeral Chapel
