Calvin Butler, 82, of Sapulpa went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2020. He was born on July 3, 1938 in Keystone, Oklahoma to Arlie and Margaret (Dawson) Butler.
He joined the Air Force in 1957 at the age 18 where he became a Flight Steward stationed at Lackland Airforce Base. While in the military he married Dema Ellen (Nichols) of Sapulpa, OK. Calvin was 19 and Dema was 15 which required both sets of parent’s permissions to marry. A year later their first child David Butler was born in San Antonio, TX. After he was discharged from the military he came back home and the family settled in Sapulpa, OK where he attended welding school and became employed at National Tank. Over the years he worked at National Tank, Kentube, Henry Vogt Machine Company and Vogt-Nem where he retired in 2002.
He is survived by sons, Michael Butler and wife, Kimberly, Scott Butler and wife Teresa all of Sand Springs, OK; grandchildren, Randi Butler, Kaitlyn Butler, Chelsey Butler, Zachary Butler, Zoe Butler, Megan Perkins and husband Seth, Kyle Devers, sister Shirley Coffmann of Ripley, OK and brothers George Butler and wife Jeanne of Albuquerque, NM, Charles Butler and wife Iva Jean of Silver City, OK.
Calvin was blessed to have two wonderful wives in his life, his first wife Dema and his second wife Maxine. With the second marriage, Maxine’s four children were added to the family, Julie Willis, Joe Cummings, Terrie Baker, and Robert Cummings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Margaret (Dawson) Butler; sisters Sharon (Butler) Wright, Lois (Butler) Summers, brothers, James Butler and Alvin Butler, first wife Dema (Nichols) Butler, second wife Maxine (Cummings) Butler, and son David Butler.
Three of Calvin’s greatest passions were family, his long-standing membership of Trinity Baptist Church, and crappie fishing with his buddies.
