Betty Lois (Elms) Barber passed away Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at the Gardens Nursing Home at the age of 79. Betty was born August 24th, 1943 in Locust Grove, Arkansas to the late William Dorr Elms and Jewel Irene (Cartwright) Elms.
Betty was a member of the Church of Christ at Lee & Walnut Street in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and was loved by everyone in her community. She worked 20 + years aa Bartlett Collins Glass Company and retired at the age of 72.
Betty married James Edward Nelson on April 13th, 1960 in Batesville, Arkansas. She was a wonderful mother of four children. Betty loved singing, gardening, baking, going for walks in the park. She loved get togethers with family and friends and having family picnics and all family coming together to play their instruments and sing so many beautiful songs. Oh, how she loved to sing with her beautiful voice. She loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She also loved animals. Her favorite animals were cats and birds.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her son Rickey Edward Nelson, great-granddaughter Kierra Rivas, brother Jimmy Elms and sister Peggy Holder. She is survived by her son David Nelson and wife Debbie of Crowley, TX, daughter Delorise Crawford and husband David, Sr. of Sapulpa, OK, daughter Angie Gonzales and husband John of Ft. Worth, TX, sisters Wanda Hankins of Batesville, AR, Martha Blanton and husband Austin of New Ark, AR, brothers William Elms and wife Mary of MO, Evan Elms of Batesville, AR, granddaughters Tiffany Gonzales, Christina Gonzales and husband Brian, Tammera Harrell and husband Donnie, Stephanie Rivas, grandsons Johnny Gonzales and wife Muneca, Rickey Gonzales, David Crawford, Jr. and wife Dani Knights, great-grandchildren Nadalie, Joselyn, Mvhayv, Jacob, Fabian, Nathan, Alfredo, Breanna, Emma, Kazlynn, Donnie III, Gunner, Malakhi and Koehn.
Viewing will be held Thursday, October 13th from 6-8 pm at Green Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled at 10 am Friday, October 14th at Green Hill Funeral Home with interment in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
Granddaughter Tammera Harrell will be performing “I’ll Fly Away” by Alan Jackson.
Preacher Jesse Dickinson of Church of Christ will officiate the services in honor of Betty Barber.
Casket Bearers are David Crawford, Jr., Jacob Pickering, Rickey Gonzales, Donnie Harrell, Johnny Gonzales, and David Crawford, Sr.
