Alvin Wayne Foley Sr., 90, of Kellyville, passed from this life Saturday, December 26, 2020.
Services will be 2:30pm, Saturday, January2, 2020 at Traditions Funeral Chapel in Kellyville, OK 74039.
Wayne was born in Grove, Oklahoma and graduated from Cleveland High School before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Military. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1949 and flew with the 125th bomber squadron as a flight mechanic during the conflict in Korea. Following his return home from the service, he met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Broom. They were married on July 8, 1952, in Tulsa Oklahoma where they lived for the first 13 years of their marriage. Wayne worked the night shift at McDonnell Douglas while Gwen cared for their 4 children, Wayne Jr., Karen, Sherry, and Larry. In 1964 his love of ranching drew him to purchase land in Kellyville where he farmed, raised cattle, and provided for his family. Through his own strength, love, and the farm life Wayne taught his kids and grandkids the value of strength, work ethics, endurance, and how to achieve their goals.
After retiring from Douglas, Wayne and Gwen owned and operated Wayne’s Outdoor Power Equipment in Sapulpa. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and shared that passion with his sons as well. Wayne played football for Cleveland High School in Oklahoma and was a die-hard hard football fan. In 1975 Wayne was instrumental in re-starting the Kellyville High School football program. His son Larry played on that team’s first year back on the field. Wayne took great pride in the oversized gardens he planted each summer, and generously shared the bounty with anyone in need. Wayne never knew selfishness when somebody was in need. Wayne and Gwen raised show quality Limousin cattle, and he was an avid supporter of youth and future farmers. For many years, at the annual county fair, he donated a calf from his herd for a student to handpick and raise and show, with no strings attached.
This year, Wayne and Gwen celebrated 68 years of marriage. He accomplished a lot in his lifetime, what a great life he lived. He is profoundly missed by many.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents David Bee and Bessie Rardin Foley, son Larry Duane Foley, brothers David Bee Foley Jr, and Buddy Foley, and sisters Paula Jane Gallier and Bobbie Ruth East.
