Alta Morton

Alta Laverta Morton was born August 9, 1921 to William George and Sarah Catherine Henderson in Bristow, Oklahoma.  She departed this life September 28, 2020 at the age of 99 years, 1 month and 19 days.

She was born into a family that learned the value of work and love.  They supported each other throughout life.  On December 17, 1947 Alta Laverta Henderson and Marvin “Pete” Morton were united in marriage.  From this union were born two sons, Ted and Chris.  They enjoyed over forty-six years together before his passing April 27, 1994.

Alta was a faithful member of the Bristow Free Will Baptist Church.  She, along with her sisters were responsible for special meals, including funeral meals at the church for many years.  She enjoyed cooking, quilting and gardening.  Her true joy came from spending time with her sisters, sons and especially her grandchildren.  She had such a loving and caring servant’s heart.

She is survived by two sons, Ted Morton and wife Susan Morton of Oklahoma City, Chris Morton and wife Cindy of Bristow; one sister, Wanda McDaniel of Bristow; five grandchildren, Jeff Morton and wife Kris, Karen Morton Barnum and husband Matt, Jason Wheeler and wife Kristen, Johnnie Wheeler and wife Lindsey, Autumn Morton Qualls; eleven great grandchildren, Jordan Evans, Cody Evans and wife Makayla, Shelbi Barnum, Wynter Wheeler, Jaycie Wheeler, Cole Barnum, Baleigh Baker, Corinne Morton, Kynzi Qualls, Boston Wheeler and Teegan Qualls; two great great grandchildren, Kayden Evans and Talon Evans.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and five sisters and one granddaughter, Lori Morton.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30am, Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Bristow Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Jackson officiating.  Interment will follow at the Bristow City Cemetery.
