David (Sonny) Paul Crowels, 62, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on March 17th, 2021, at St. John’s Hospital, Tulsa, OK. He was born on March 2, 1959 to Nora Jane Bosen and Newman Crowels, Sr. in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Sonny graduated from Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City. He worked for Beekets Flooring Company and became a self-taught artist. He entered the Trail of Tears Art Show and won BEST OF SHOW and entered the Tulsa Art Expo and placed 1st in miniatures. He loved spending time with family, friends, winning at Farkle and playing horseshoes.
Sonny was preceded in death by his mother, Nora and father, Newman, two sisters, Mary Ellen and Shirley Tiger, brother-in-law, Bobby Issac, his uncle Jimmy Bosen and numerous other family members.
He is survived by brothers, Newman Crowels, Jr, Wewoka, Oklahoma, Freddy Crowels and sister, Mary Isaac, all of Sapulpa; nieces Sheresa Crowels of Sapulpa and Mary Tiger of Tulsa, Morresa Stromme, who he adopted after her mother passed away and nephews, Logan Stromme, Johnny Crowels, along with many other nieces and nephews.
The wake will be held Monday, March 22, 2021 at 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sapulpa. Funeral services are Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest at the Crowels family cemetery in Sapulpa.
