New Leadership of Sapulpa congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The Tulsa Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a new Bishopric of the Sapulpa Ward during the faith’s regularly held meeting on September 17, 2017.

Doran E. Smith, William G. Wood, and Kevin D. Bailey will oversee the Church’s Sapulpa Ward, which comprises the communities of Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Bristow, Mounds, and the surrounding areas. The Sapulpa Ward bishopric presides over ecclesiastical matters and oversees the activities of all Mormons within their geographic boundaries women ages 18 and over.

Prior to his call, Bishop Smith was serving as first counselor in the ward’s Sunday School presidency and as an instructor to the high priests group. He succeeds Bishop Mike Mills, who served in the position for the past five years.

Brother William G. Wood, who was the ward young men president, was sustained as the new first counselor in the bishopric. Brother Kevin D. Bailey was the young men first counselor prior to his call as second counselor in the bishopric. All callings within the Church are voluntary and receive no financial compensation.

The Sapulpa Ward holds its regular meetings at 950 Pioneer Road in Sapulpa on Sundays at 9:00 am.

Bishop Doran E. Smith

Bishop Doran E. Smith is the bishop of the Sapulpa Ward. Professionally, he is the superintendent of Mounds Public Schools. He and his wife, Kim, are the parents of three daughters at home. He is originally from Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.

First Counselor: William G. Wood

Brother Will Wood is the first counselor in the Sapulpa Ward bishopric. Brother Wood is an Alabama native, and is employed at Aberdeen Dynamics as the Director of Continuous Improvement. He and his wife, Ashley, are the parents of four children.

Second Counselor: Kevin D. Bailey

Brother Kevin D. Bailey is the second counselor in the Sapulpa Ward bishopric. He is the owner operator of KB Lawn Care. He and his wife, Mikki, are the parents of two children. Brother Bailey grew up in Henryetta, Oklahoma.
