Old car and motorcycle fans get a double whammy on Saturday. While an informal show takes place at the developing Route 66 Museum at the “Old Armory” along the Route in Sapulpa, just south on Alternate Highway 75 is the 12th Annual Mounds Car, Truck and Bike Show.

Main Street in Mounds will be blocked off. Registration is 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Trophy Presentation will be at 2:00 p.m. And there are half a hundred classes. You can still register your car, truck or bike—get the registration form here.

Tim Polk of Sapulpa will be showing his 1961 Mercury 202. The Polk family have two Mercs. Perhaps the other will be at the 66 Museum show. Local classic owners are trying to make sure they can support the Mounds Car Show and still show their enthusiasm for the coming of Route 66 Museum.

Everyone is hoping that those who organize car shows can “steer” clear of scheduling conflicts, but as one local buff puts it “you have choices just about every weekend.” Two weeks ago there was a show at Sapulpa Elks Lodge at the same time as big Bluegrass and Chili Car Show at Claremore.

Mounds folk are going all out to get people to make their show.

“We have a variety of vendors and food,” organizers report. “Rafter c Sound will provide music and announcements all day for you listening pleasure.”

A six-drawer toolbox will be raffled with a special guest pin stripping it during the show.

Bring two or more non-perishable food items and receive $3 off registration.

Cash & Gift Drawings, 50/50 Pot. Proceeds benefit Mounds Community Angel Tree and Food Bank.
