Monday’s City Council Meeting includes swearing in of officers, development updates, and upcoming events

The council session consisted primarily of updates about upcoming events like fall cleanup day and various concerns with upcoming chute construction. Fall Cleanup Day will be Oct 14, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The council also heard from Carson Lynch, Sapulpa Director of Parks and Recreation, on the ongoing and future construction of a new trail route in Kelly Lane Park. This new trail system will be approximately 5k in length, with future construction planned.

There were more development updates that included progress on the Oakwood Estates development. The Oakwood Estates being built on 33rd and 71st is roughly 30% complete.

The Rosewood housing project at Mayfield and Dewey is almost complete as well. There will also be a new addition being added to the timbers which will add an additional 44 units.

There was discussion on various concerns brought to the council regarding the Chute, parking, construction and lighting. The council indicated that lighting would be sufficient and floated ideas to counter parking issues, like a return to temporary downtown parking.

Concerns regarding degraded sidewalks were addressed, with plans to address some of those areas in the near future. The council also discussed better means of communicating with residents but stressed the importance of reaching out, staying informed and up to date.

The regular session started off with the graduation and swearing-in of three new Sapulpa Police Officers. These officers included Nathaniel Moore, Michael Million and Tyler Hughes.

The rest of the meeting primarily involved minor zoning changes, the approval of a new dispensary north of South Michigan Street and East Taft Ave. and construction and contract approvals.
