Faitha Jones appeared before the Kellyville Town Board at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, requesting a lot split between her beauty shop and a rental building next to it at 128 1/2 East Buffalo. Jones said she wanted the split to leave five feet of clearance on either side of her property to make it easier for her to sell the rental property.
Town Trustee Russ Howard expressed his concern over the five foot variance, stating there’s an “ordinance saying…you can only be within so many feet of another structure.” He added that the beauty shop, being so close to the rental property, is already not in compliance, but was somehow pushed through and approved anyway—at no fault of Jones’s. Howard said the Board would have to review the variances to come to a conclusion, adding that it is trying to do things right by everyone.
The vote was unanimous to bring the lot split issue back at next month’s meeting to allow a review of the variances.
The Kellyville Library, under the guidance of new librarian Aimee Hargrove, received $3,000 in ARPA grants. It was mentioned that Hargrove worked hard to get all the paperwork for the grant completed, and the funds were finalized at the Tuesday meeting. Barbara Morris, formerly with the Heritage Days Foundation in Kellyville, praised Hargrove for her work with the library, saying “she’s doing a great job!”
Upon return from executive session, the Board unanimously agreed to purchase a $175,000 property within town limits. No further detail on the property was given and town officials could not be reached for comment.
