J.E. Williams: What to do about the old Wickham plant?

I have been driving by the old Wickham plant and all the vacant properties immediately to the west of there, all the way out to the new 66 attraction at the old armory, and seeing the for sale signs. Wouldn’t it be great if we as a city could apply for some grant money to purchase any or all of those properties, then tear them down and market it as a retail corridor on the west side of town. It is one of the largest tracks of land that is not in use currently. I know the railroad is a deterrent, but overpasses and underpasses can be built to overcome that. Maybe a discount mall on the north side of the tracks. Anything to get and keep our city moving. Just one old man’s thoughts.
Thanks,
