It’s official: All Oklahoma Public Schools to close until April 3rd, classes to resume April 6th

In a press release on Monday afternoon, Sapulpa Public Schools has announced that they will remain closed through April 3rd, but plan to resume April 6th. Here are the full details of the situation as it stands:

SITUATION UPDATE ON CONORAVIRUS (COVID – 19) MARCH 16, 2020

As a result of the Oklahoma State Department of Education authorizing the closure of all public schools in the state, Sapulpa Public Schools will be closed through at least April 3 without instruction.

We plan on returning to school on Monday, April 6, however that date may change, so please be attentive for more updates later.

Meal service will continue for students on free and reduced plans. More information about where those meals will be served will come later.

For our employees, district buildings will be open until Wednesday, March 18 at 5 p.m. for you to return to your classroom and gather what you may need during the closure.

When new information is available we will continue to post updates and information on our website as well as on social media, phone, and email.

Please remember to thoroughly wash your hands regularly throughout the day, stay home if you are not feeling well, cover your coughs and sneezes, avoid touching your face, nose, mouth, and eyes, and avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue to navigate the current situation in the U.S.

The unanimous vote by the State’s Board of Education on Monday’s vote means all public schools, charter schools, and virtual charter schools must temporarily suspend all instructional services including grading, extracurricular activities for students and staff development and other training or conferences. It does not cover private schools.

This is a developing story.
