Headed to Jingle Bells or Sapulpa’s Christmas Parade? You’ll want to bundle up

With a high today that’s about 10 degrees cooler than expected, “Layers” is the name of the game at today’s Christmas events in Sapulpa.

According to Accuweather, today’s high will only reach about 48, and that won’t be until 4 pm. After that, it’ll start to drop, and around the start of the parade at 6 pm, it’ll be around 43 and still dropping. The low is expected to drop to 18 degrees. Brr!

What to know for today’s events:

The Jingle Bells Sweepstakes kicks off at 1 pm at the Creek County Courthouse Parking Lot. As usual, the team at Sapulpa Main Street will give away several smaller cash prizes ahead of the big $10,000 prize, and don’t forget they’ll also be giving away a final $500 prize the week after, so hang onto those tickets! (Pro-tip: be watching for last-minute ticket giveaways as you pull up to the event! Some businesses like to hand out tickets to the crowd.)

The Sapulpa Christmas Parade starts at 6 pm and will largely follow the same traditional route it always has, with one major exception: the construction on Dewey Avenue means the parade will not hit Route 66 this year. Instead, the parade will turn east on Thompson Avenue and end at the “Church Row” parking lots on Park Street. It’s a Very Vintage Christmas theme this year, so expect a lot of nostalgia in this year’s floats! (Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming from Central Tech!)

What else is happening around Sapulpa:

  • Yesterday, emergency crews were on the scene of a crash where a vehicle appeared to have flipped into a house near 337th West Avenue and U.S. Highway 66. News On 6
  • Early Christmas gift for Sapulpa students: two Sapulpa-area families made donations to settle ALL outstanding student meal balances in the district. More on Facebook.
