Avery Lemmon, the six-year-old that has twice now made it into Sapulpa Times for using her entrepreneurial spirit and kind heart to raise money for the Sapulpa Police Department, is getting noticed by some important people.
She was already thrilled when officers from SPD made it a point to visit her Lemmonade Stand during both of her fundraisers, including appearances from Chief Mike Reed and Pepper, the latest addition to their K9 Unit.
The latest person to show their appreciation to Avery is none other than Governor Stitt himself.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt sent Avery a letter commending her for our dedication to helping other people, and told her “young Oklahomans like you are what makes our state so great.”
Though Avery didn’t know who the man was initially, after her mom explained it to her, she was awestruck. “Her eyes got really big and she was like, ‘really?’” said Avery’s mother, Sara Lemmon. “She was really excited.”
We’ve included the text of Stitt’s letter to Avery below.
Dear Avery,
Congratulations on your success at Avery’s Lemmonade! I am told your first lemonade stand to raise money for the Sapulpa Police Department was a hit and I am so impressed by your dedication to helping others.
Thank you for the service you provided to our brave K-9 officers in Sapulpa. Your outstanding efforts to serve the community make all the difference and I am sure the K-9 officers will appreciate the new toys and snacks.
Avery, young Oklahomas like you are what makes our state so great. I am proud of all that you have accomplished so far at such a young age. You have a very bright future ahead of you!
Keep up the great work.
Best Regards,
Governor J. Kevin Stitt
