Google adds SOS Alerts for local wildfire incidents

After another week of high winds and fire danger, wildfires on everyone’s minds right now. Now tech giant Google is joining the growing group of those helping to keep Oklahomans informed.

Google has now launched SOS Alerts on Search and Maps to help notify users of escalating fire situations and provide critical safety information to community members. These include top stories, air quality, fire boundaries (where available) and links to resources and help from local authorities.

Public Alerts from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are also active for wildfire weather and winds.

Google and Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, are supporting relief and recovery efforts during the fires with funding and an employee matching campaign. It is also actively monitoring the situation and will continue to share timely information through our products and provide support to the people and communities who are impacted by this evolving situation.
