OKLAHOMA CITY – Sen. Todd Gollihare has begun his first term in the Oklahoma Senate. The Kellyville Republican was sworn in during a ceremony in the Senate Chamber on Wednesday, presided over by Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell. The oath was administered by Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Darby. Gollihare was joined by family and friends for the ceremony.
“I am honored to be entrusted by the citizens of District 12 to be their voice in the Oklahoma Senate,” Gollihare said. “My life has been devoted to service, and I look forward to working with my fellow members to move Oklahoma forward, and fight for the conservative values that have made the United States of America the greatest nation in the world.”
Gollihare is a combat veteran who served 25 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. His career spanned two wars, four military campaigns, and numerous operations in seven foreign countries, and Gollihare received multiple decorations. During his service, he attained his law degree from the University of Tulsa and later served as the Chief United States Probation Officer for the Northern District of Oklahoma, a position he held until his retirement in 2021.
While Gollihare grew up in Stratford, he’s made his home in Kellyville for over 20 years and served on the Kellyville Board of Education from 2004 to 2016. He was also a leadership teacher at Kellyville High School.
The full Senate will meet on Jan. 3, 2023, to formally elect leadership for the chamber and adopt rules for the 59th Legislature. The 2023 session will formally get underway on Feb. 6.
