Gollihare carries Campbell’s undisputed nomination to Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Senate Aerospace and Transportation Committee on Monday unanimously approved the executive nomination of Craig E. Campbell to the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority (OSIDA). Sen. Todd Gollihare, R-Kellyville, carried the nomination, which passed 11-0.

“Craig Campbell brings a rare combination of aerospace expertise, military leadership, and executive experience,” Gollihare said. “His nomination is a win for Oklahoma and the future of our space industry.”

Campbell is a nationally recognized aerospace and military leader with more than 30 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He served as President and CEO of the Alaska Aerospace Corporation, where he transformed the state-supported agency into a fully self-sustaining commercial launch provider with global operations. Most recently, he led Anchorage International Airport as Interim Director from 2022 to 2024. A retired Lieutenant General in the Alaska National Guard and former Lieutenant Governor of Alaska, Campbell’s career includes service as Adjutant General and Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. His military honors include the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service and the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal.

“People might ask, ‘What’s someone from Alaska doing in Oklahoma?’ But the truth is, I’ve spent many years of my life in Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Tulsa,” Campbell said. “When I think about the pinnacle of aviation and aerospace in the United States, Oklahoma is the obvious choice. This state’s legacy, infrastructure, and vision for the future make it the ideal place to contribute my experience and help lead the next chapter of American aerospace innovation.”

Campbell fills the statutorily required aerospace seat on OSIDA and, if confirmed by the full Senate, will serve through June 30, 2028, succeeding Richard Howie. OSIDA is tasked with expanding Oklahoma’s role in the national aerospace economy through development of infrastructure and commercial launch opportunities.

The nomination now heads to the Senate for consideration.
