Glenpool is set to celebrate its rich oil history during the upcoming Father’s Day weekend.
The 39th year for the festival will host a bevy of food, craft and business vendors, a full-blown carnival, turtle races, frog races, Optimists Club horseshoe contests, pancake breakfast, 5K run, Black Gold Days parade, entertainment and a beer garden.
Basic times of operation for the event are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 15-18 at Black Gold Park, 94 W. 145th St. and Highway 75, in Glenpool.
This four-day event honors the history of the Glenn Pool oil field, named after Ida Glenn. The field helped the city prosper (as well as put Tulsa on the map) after its discovery in 1905, and created numerous oil and oil-related companies in the area.
All-you-can-ride carnival wristband tickets are available for $20 at the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce office, American Heritage Bank, BancFirst and Mabrey Bank until June 14. Beginning June 15, wristbands will be $25.
