Frankoma Pottery is hosting a series of tiki-themed parties to celebrate the release of a new limited-edition mug.
These are the first new Frankoma Tiki-styled pottery since the 1960s, according to the Tulsa World. The new mug colors will be available in black, white, red and yellow on Friday and Caribbean blue, turtle shell, orange peel and meadow on Saturday.
Mugs will be numbered and limited to 25 of each color, and visitors wearing a Tiki shirt will receive a $10 discount on a Tiki mug.
The pottery company was originally founded in 1933 in Norman, OK by John Frank, a professor of ceramics at the University of Oklahoma. They were first known for using local Ada clay, but later used Sapulpa-based brick-red clay in 1953.
Frankoma Pottery, a Sapulpa landmark since 1933, is now located in Glenpool at 17117 S. Union Ave. Frank and his company grew international fame and is credited with the “once-fired” process in pottery. You can read more about Frankoma’s return to the area here.
