Sapulpa’s only true book store has moved to a new location, and they’re now open for business.
For The Love of Books, formerly located at 1422 South Main Street, has now moved to 617 N Mission, directly across from Hickory House BBQ, and adjacent to Real Deal’s thrift store.
Owner Chris Stunkart told Sapulpa Times they are hopeful that being on a main thoroughfare will result in an increase in visibility and bring more people through the door. “Our old location wasn’t conducive to foot traffic,” Stunkart said.
The space was formerly occupied by the extremely short-lived Bloom’s Parties and Arcade, which closed suddenly, reportedly due to city permit violations. Stunkart says the book store has no such violations. “We wanted to make sure we did it right and did it legally,” she said.
For The Love of Books is Sapulpa’s first book store in over a decade. Their selection includes all major genres, and Stunkart says the new space gives them room to expand some of them as the demand has grown; some genres that were sharing shelf space will now get their own section. Stunkart said more space was needed for the Crime and Mystery section, and she pointed us to a shelf full of recently added vintage hardback westerns.
For The Love of Books is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on Thursday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
