The Tee Pee Drive-In (13166 W Ozark Trail in Sapulpa) might have its home in Sapulpa, but it’s an icon to all of Route 66. As one of the few remaining drive-ins still standing, the grand re-opening after years of restoration has been met with excitement and recalling of fond memories. Before things kick off on Saturday, April 15th, we’ve compiled the five most important things to know before this Route 66 icon blazes back to life.
The tickets are already sold out for the opening movie this weekend (Super Mario Bros Movie!)
Tickets to the premiere showing of Super Mario Bros and it’s follow-up feature of Despicable Me sold blazingly fast as the announcement came that they were available. However, it looks like you can still get tickets to the later showings the following weekend, The Super Mario Bros. Movie/Puss In Boots: The Last Wish—April 21st and 22nd.
You can still come to the free car show on opening day.
The classic car show by Sapulpa Cruise Night will be from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, as well as burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks from the Tee Pee’s vintage Spartan concessions trailer. It’s completely free to attend and open to the public.
You can be a part of an iconic new moment at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!
The Sapulpa Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to cut the ribbon at 2pm and officially bring the golden age of the Drive-In into the modern era. You can be a part of the crowd here by simply making sure you’re there at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are now available for the next movie to show at the Tee Pee Drive-In: Back to the Future 1 and 2!
There are not many things better than watching nostalgic movies in a nostalgic setting. Watch Marty McFly and Doc Brown as they climb into the Delorean and screech into the past and back again in these 1980s classics. Tickets are available now.
The new Tee Pee features a fully restored 1952 Spartan trailer (and yes, you can rent it).
One of the coolest new additions to the iconic drive-in are the handful of Spartan trailers that have been fully restored or repurposed to help add to the classic experience. At least one of these, a 1952 orange and chrome Spartanette, is available for rent on Airbnb.
