Five high school arenas designed by Reed Architecture and Interiors hosted Oklahoma high school basketball playoff tournaments this year.
“It’s great to see the success of the student-athletes,” said Reed Architecture principal and founder David Reed, “and how great facilities can impact the performance and strengthen home-court advantages.”
Under the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Athletic Association playoff schedule:
- Booker T. Washington High School’s Nathan E. Harris Field House in Tulsa hosted 6A boys and girls east regional games.
- Kellyville Public Schools’ Events Center hosted several 3A boys and girls games through the first four playoff rounds. It will host 6A boys and girls east area tournament games on Friday.
- Putnam City West High School’s arena in Bethany hosted 6A girls west regional games.
- Memorial High School’s Memorial Veterans Arena in Tulsa hosted 5A boys east regional games.
- Edison Preparatory School’s athletic center in Tulsa hosted 5A boys east regional games.
Reed Architecture designed these arenas with several elements that help these events succeed:
- Locker rooms for multiple teams, coaches, and officials.
- Secure court access separating fans from participants.
- Spacious entryways to accommodate large crowds.
- A mid-level concourse providing improved pedestrian foot traffic and easy fan access to concessions, restrooms, and seating. These levels also offer excellent court views.
These arenas also boast hospitality suites, sports training centers, and trophy display areas.
“It is truly an honor for a school to host playoff games,” said Reed. “Our team also considers this a great honor to work with these great schools. We are excited to see them excel.”
