First Revival Run 5K welcomes all ages

A good crowd gathered on a crisp but warming morning at the Creek County Courthouse in downtown Sapulpa on Saturday to take part in the first-ever Revival Run 5K to support Shoulder 2 Shoulder ministries.

The calm morning was a welcome change after several days of windy gusts that might’ve deterred runners and volunteers, but by 8:30 am the parking lot of the courthouse was buzzing as racers began stretching and making their way to the starting line ahead of the 9:00 am start time.

After a short countdown, the Sapulpa Drumline sent the runners off as they launched into their 5K, which took them from the Creek County Courthouse east on Dewey, then south on Mission, west on Taft, and north on Main before they crossed the finish line on Dewey again. Less than twenty minutes later, the first person to cross the finish line arrives, Nathan Crowson, coming in at 18:54 seconds. The runners began to trickle in, including 13-year-old Night Holden, who came in 4th overall. Trophies were awarded to winners in each age group, and to those who finished 1st through 3rd overall.

The 5K was followed by a Fun Run at 11:10 am for the kids, all of whom were eager to participate, and the remainder of the afternoon was filled with games, vendors, live music, and several speakers preaching the gospel.

Levi Bradley, the leader of Shoulder 2 Shoulder ministries, said he couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout. “We already have several other churches that are saying, ‘we want to be a part of this next year.’ We’re hoping that when we have more time to plan it out, we’ll be able to get even more organizations involved.”
