Police were unable to identify Kevin Leroy Smith as a suspect until DNA evidence recovered through a sexual assault exam matched a sample he provided when he was indicted in July 2014 in a federal child pornography case.
A Sapulpa man convicted of federal child pornography charges pleaded guilty Monday to Tulsa County charges stemming from the 2013 rape of a 12-year-old Glenpool girl.
Kevin Leroy Smith, 51, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree rape against a victim under 14 years of age, one count of kidnapping and one count of first-degree rape by instrumentation.
Smith allegedly kidnapped the girl on her way home from school and raped her in his vehicle on Jan. 8, 2013.
