The Creek County Literacy Program will hold its annual spelling bee fundraiser in just over a month, according to a statement from Executive Director Dee Chandler
Creek County Literacy Program has, for 37 years, worked to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting literacy and learning goals. Through extensive outreach and collaboration with a network of community partners, CCLP strives to ensure that individuals who need to improve their literacy skills receive the help they need.
Each year, CCLP holds a competitive spelling bee in which teams from area businesses and organizations compete for prizes and bragging rights. Each team of three competes by spelling preselected words, and the team with the most correct spellings wins the large traveling trophy to display at their office for the year.
“This year’s theme is ‘The Great Gats-Bee’ and features a Roaring 20s theme,” Chandler said. “It will also feature a costume contest, basket wars, and team spirit competition.”
A photographer will be on-site to capture the fun, and to go along with the theme, mocktails and a light dinner will be served.
All proceeds raised at the event will support Creek County Literacy in 2026.
