Creek County Literacy Program brings back Annual Spelling Bee

Prior to 2020 Creek County Literacy Program hosted an annual Spelling Bee fundraiser. The event was put on pause due to the pandemic and the organization pivoted to a “non-event” mail campaign to try and raise funds.

On April 3, 2025, the Spelling Bee is coming back, at 5:30pm at the Creek County Fairgrounds.

Creek County Literacy Program is a 501c3 non-profit organization that trains adults to become volunteer literacy tutors and then matches those tutors with learners of all ages. The program is funded by grants, donations, community partnerships and fundraisers. It relies on fundraisers like these to maintain essential programs and personnel.

The CCLP spelling bee is a competitive event, where area businesses can enter teams of three to compete at spelling for trophies and prizes. There is a themed costume contest complete with a photo booth, and a basket auction. Baskets are donated by various local businesses and participants, and all proceeds from the Bee and the basket auction help fund literacy programming in Creek County. The costume contest is based on the theme for the year. This year’s theme is “Bee Adventurous.” Photos will be taken of individual groups and will be available after the event.

Tickets are based on a choice of sponsorship levels and start at $40 for admission and $200 to compete as a team. Sponsorships can be purchased for up to three teams and include an event tee shirt for each participant.
