Sapulpa Police and Emergency responders were dispatched Tuesday night at 7:32 pm to the scene of an injury accident on Highway 117, just west of Overlook Drive.

Lt. Tyler Brogdon, the Night Supervisor who was in charge of the incident, told the Sapulpa Times that a red Ford Focus had just turned west onto Highway 117 and a white Buick Enclave struck the Red Ford Focus with enough force to overturn both vehicles. The Enclave came to rest upright, however, the Ford Focus remained upside down.

“We believe that speed was the contributing factor that led to this collision,” Brogdon said. “Based on what it looked like at the scene, the little red Focus had plenty of time to pull out but the white Buick Enclave was traveling at a high rate of speed. Even though they had plenty of time, by time they began accelerating they were hit from behind.”

Brogdon said the Enclave was being placed on hold for further investigation. “We did place an investigative hold on the white vehicle and are going to be doing a forensic download of the computer on the car to see just what it was doing prior to the collision,” he said.

Miraculously, there were no serious injuries to either driver. There were no other occupants in each car.

“Everyone went home, nobody had to go to the hospital. It appears everybody made it out of this terrible collision alive and safe,” he said.
