The Creek County Board of Commissioners met Monday, August 8th, at 9 a.m. at the Collins Building.

Utility Relocation

The board unanimously approved a Utility Relocation Agreement with Cimarron Telephone on project 30473(04), Little Salt Creek. Phone lines are being temporarily placed above an ongoing bridge project.

Surplus Equipment Disposal

Creek County Commissioners unanimously approved a request from Sheriff Bret Bowling to declare a 2016 Dodge Charger surplus and allow the Creek County Sheriff’s Department to donate the vehicle to the Bristow Police Department.

Alcoholic Beverage Tax Correction

Commissioners unanimously approved a corrected Alcoholic Beverage Tax report for July 2022.

The Oklahoma Tax Commission has stopped sending alcoholic beverage tax collected in Shamrock back to that community since the town is in receivership. That amount is now divided among the other towns and cities in Creek County.

District #1 Highway Maintenance Fund Credit

The board unanimously approved directing the Creek county Treasurer to credit Creek County District #1 Highway Maintenance Fund $25.50 for the purchase of a Tag for a 2012 INVL 4000 Service Truck on PO#0830, Sapulpa Tag Agency/OTC. The County was quoted a higher cost than the amount charged by the cashier at the tag agency.

Utility Permit Request

Commissioners unanimously approved a utility permit request from Oklahoma Natural Gas to cross 417th West Ave. approximately 8.00 miles south and 4.04 miles west of State Highway16 and State Highway 48 junction in District #3.

American Rescue Plan Act 2021 Funds

Commissioners were apprised of the status of ongoing projects that are utilizing ARPA money allocated to Creek County. Assistant District Attorney Andrew GoForth, counsel for Creek County, stated that $13.9 million was directed to Creek County with $10 million going to General Fund revenue replacement and the remainder earmarked for specific projects, such as Covid mitigation, bridges, roads, and sewers, among others. 

County Commissioners Greenlight Ballroom Renovation

Creek County Project Manager Glen Musser presented the board with a rough draft proposal for renovating the ballroom in the Collins Building. Commissioners wish to convert the ballroom into the Board Of County Commissioners meeting room since the load capacity has been reduced to 49 people, which means the room can’t be used for large events. Andrew GoForth said the next step would be to “define the scope of the project.” The projected cost has been tentatively estimated at approximately $100,000. The conversion will be paid for by ARPA funds.

Sapulpa Public Schools Board of Education

SPS is growing! They have hired 21 new positions for the district and more than 50 new teachers. 

Kellyville Board of Town Trustees

At Tuesday’s regular monthly meeting, a decision to allow an RV Park at 13406 South 177th West Avenue was tabled until September’s meeting. 

It was unanimously approved to provide a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Kellyville Public Schools. 

The trustees entered into executive session to discuss hiring Christopher Vickery as a full-time police officer, which was unanimously approved.

The donation of two 2016 Ford Explorers from the Creek County Sheriff’s Office for police patrol units was unanimously accepted.  

An extension on a variance to allow an RV at a residential property on Maple Drive was denied.
