Convicted felon arrested again for receiving stolen truck
A man who had previously been sentenced to 20 years has been arrested again.
On Thursday afternoon Sapulpa Police arrested 44-year old Gregery Carlton McMorris for knowingly receiving stolen property.
At approximately 4:50 p.m. Sergeant Mike Sole was dispatched to a disturbance on North 9th Street in Sapulpa. Upon arrival he observed a woman running from the back of the house and as he approached the rear of the home, he noticed a white male standing in the doorway yelling. The man identified himself to police as Gregery McMorris (Defendant).
After being permitted to enter the home, both McMorris’s sister and mother advised officers that a truck parked in the garage of the residence had been stolen and brought to the home by McMorris.
A records check on the vehicle revealed that it had been stolen on December 24, 2018 in Tulsa. At this point the Defendant was read his Miranda rights and taken into police custody.
McMorris admitted to knowing that the truck had been stolen and stated that he purchased it from an acquaintance for $300. He planned to use the truck’s engine in another vehicle in his possession.
A criminal history check revealed that McMorris has been convicted of several felonies, including one for grand larceny in October of 2015. For this crime he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, only 3 of which he served, with a 17-year suspended sentence.
