Chieftains Win Stellar 41-21 Homecoming Against Bartlesville

The Chieftains won their second straight district game on Friday night, defeating the Bartlesville Bruins 41-21.

Standout players: Two standouts for Friday’s game include senior Levi Jensen, who ran 115 yards for four touchdowns, and Deshaun Koch, who played three different positions for the Chieftains and contributed in massive ways at all three positions.

Though the Bruins struck first with a run-in touchdown in the first quarter, the Chieftains answered back, and by the start of the second quarter, the Chieftains were on their way to a lead that they would keep for the remainder of the game.

Starting quarterback Braddox Broughton was back in the lineup after an injury in week one that kept him out for the last three games. Broughton and AJ Moton opened up the offense with a 45-yard reception to put the Chieftains in scoring position and then again on another 65-yard pass that resulted in a touchdown.

Meanwhile, the offensive line started wearing down the Bruins’ defense, and the Chieftains ended up with almost 300 rushing yards on the night. The carries were split between Levi Jensen, Michael Bennett, and Deshaun Koch.

Defensively, the Chieftains played a solid game. They forced two turnovers and made several disruptive plays in the backfield. Jayce McIntosh recorded his second interception of the season, and Dawson Goodlin also recorded an interception.

Chieftains move to 2-0 in district play (3-2 for the season) and will look to improve upon that record against Putnam City West on the road next week.
