Challenger Sherry Capps defeats incumbent Brian Stephens in City Council race

Challenger Sherry Capps has defeated incumbent Brian Stephens for the Ward 2, Seat 2 spot on Sapulpa’s City Council.

Stephens was appointed to the seat in 2020 after the passing of Charles Stephens (no relation), by Vice Mayor Carla Gunn.

According to the unofficial results at elections.ok.gov, the final vote was Sherry Capps, 83 votes or 52.53% and Brian Stephens 75 votes, or 47.47%. A total of 158 votes were cast, with several precincts reporting zero votes.

Sherry Capps, who was also elected chairman of the Creek County GOP, will be sworn in at the City Council meeting on May 6th.
