Drumright, OK – 14 students from Central Tech’s Digital Media and Business & Information Technology classes earned first place at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) state competition. They went on to showcase their talents on a national stage at the BPA National Leadership Conference (NLC). The event, held from May 7-11 in Orlando, FL, brought together students from across the nation to compete in various business and technology-related categories.
Students who join BPA have the chance to further their knowledge and prepare for careers in today’s fast-paced business environments, including fields such as Business Administration, Finance & Accounting, and Information Technology. The NLC serves as a platform where students can compete and demonstrate the skills they have developed.

Central Tech students from both the Drumright and Sapulpa campuses achieved remarkable success at the NLC, earning a total of three medals: one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Layla Hicks from Mannford secured gold in the Presentation Individual category for post-secondary students, marking her second consecutive year achieving this top honor. Ava Harris from Sapulpa earned silver in the Economic Research Individual category for secondary students. Carmen Barton, also from Sapulpa, was awarded bronze in Interview Skills for post-secondary students.
By participating and competing in events like those at the NLC, students engage in activities that support their preparation for various business-related careers. The competition against peers from across the nation further emphasizes the level of skill and dedication demonstrated by these students.
