Businesses adjusting events in preparation for possible severe weather on Wednesday

Cannected Dispo—the home of the former Boxcar BBQ restaurant that has found new life as a medical marijuana dispensary, had plans for a car show with live music and local vendors planned for Wednesday evening, but they’re basically canceling those things and moving what they can inside the dispensary.

Brian Hull, with Cannected, told Sapulpa Times that the business the decision to shift after they realized that drivers of expensive classic cars were leery of getting their cars out with the possibility of hail damage. “Same for the band, too,” Hull said. “It sucks, but we’ll do something else some other time.”

The National Weather Service has stated that severe thunderstorms will be possible during the late afternoon and evening hours of Wednesday across a large portion of eastern Oklahoma. “Large hail to the size of golf balls and damaging winds to 70 mph will be the main threats, but a low tornado threat will also exist.”

Kristi Howard, a local weather expert and storm chaser, says that the severity of the storms may depend on what kind of morning we have tomorrow. “The models are favorable for supercells with large hail, damaging wind, and a tornado or two possible with cells that develop,” she said. “The ‘wait and see’ part is depending on how clear it is tomorrow to warm up our atmosphere.”
