BRISTOW, Okla.- On Saturday, August 20, 2022, the Bristow Western Heritage Days Festival kicks off with a longhorn cattle drive down Main Street, Historic Route 66.
Beginning at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., the festival includes food trucks, live music, a beer tent, carnival rides, craft vendors, exhibitors, a climbing wall, boutique shopping, activities, a petting zoo, inflatables and entertainment. The Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard from Ft. Riley is visiting and festival goers can meet and greet the soldiers and the Army horses.
The 10 a.m. parade down Bristow Main Street, Historic Route 66, will be led by a herd of longhorn cattle and cowboys. An assortment of tractors, several area roundup clubs, local businesses, churches and organizations are also participating in the parade, making it a unique and exciting experience. Prizes will be awarded to winners in several categories.
Live music will be featured all day at the entertainment stage near the beer tent. The World’s Tallest Cowboy will also make an appearance and interact with the crowd. Shade tents and seating will be available in some areas. Commemorative T-shirts will be available throughout the event.
The festival coincides with the award winning Bristow Western Heritage Days Rodeo, which attracts rodeo athletes and spectators from around the country. It will be held at the arena the evenings of August 19 – 20, 2022.
Bristow was founded in 1897 as a Trading Post in Indian Territory. Today, there are still many active farms, ranches and homesteads preserving western heritage and culture. The Bristow Western Heritage Days Festival is hosted by the Bristow Merchants Association in an effort to increase tourism and promote local shopping.
