Sapulpa theater gets new signage, re-opening date; will accept MoviePass

Sapulpa Cinema 8 Theater—or at least that’s what it used to be called—has an official re-opening date, according to an article first posted on TulsaWorld.com

Though the majority of the article had more to do with the up-and-coming MoviePass program, the Director of Public Relations for B&B Theaters, Paul Farnsworth, did state that Sapulpa’s only theater would be reopening on October 5th. Those of you hoping to see Blade Runner 2049 will be happy see that it opens the next day. (See a full list of movies opening on October 6th here.)

Now about that “MoviePass” thing—if you haven’t heard, it’s a company started by one of the co-founders of Netflix. It was recently sold to an analytics company and not long after that, the new owners reduced the monthly fee down to $9.99, which left some theater owners in an uproar.

The idea is that for the low monthly fee, you could see a movie every day. With the average ticket price being just under that to $12, $14 and sometimes $20 a ticket, it seems like a heck of a deal. Of course, there are limitations: you can’t see 3D or IMAX movies with it. You can’t buy tickets in advance. And of course, it only works for one movie. Your date will be paying full price.

Even so, “full price” will be staying the same as it was prior to the temporary closure, as B&B has repeatedly said on their Facebook Page. Even with the new concession options and leather recliners, the community seems excited that the new amenities are coming without an additional expense.

B&B Theater has been closed since early August, remodeling the screens with new seating and is said to be adding “major renovations” to the front lobby and concession area.
